2026 Kaohsiung Award (2026 高雄獎)
The 2026 Kaohsiung Award (高雄獎) enters its 30th anniversary, continuing to respond to the shifts in times and artistic practice, while witnessing the generation, evolution, and expansion of Taiwan's contemporary art vocabulary.
This year attracted 358 artists from all over Taiwan. Continuing the selection mechanism of "categorized preliminary review and non-categorized final review," after rigorous and in-depth discussions by the jury, three Kaohsiung Award winners were finally selected: Chen Liang-hsuan (陳亮璇)'s "Hengshan Fengshui" (橫山豐水), Chang Chen-wei (張宸瑋)'s "Volkswagen Transporter T5.gltf", and Yang Chieh-huai (楊傑懷)'s "Working Holiday". Additionally, the "Hopax International (聚和國際) Environmental Sustainability Special Award" was given to Chien Li-yun (簡莉芸)'s "Bifurcated Context: Forgetting and Writing" (分岔的情境:遺忘與書寫), and the "Ho Chuang-shih (何創時) Calligraphy and Seal Carving Special Award" was won by Chi Kuan-ti (紀冠地)'s "Fallen Leaves Series—Autumn Intentions Deepen" (落葉系列—秋意濃).
From the 27 shortlisted works, the final jury also selected artists with high potential and worth continued attention from their respective professional perspectives to receive the Jury Special Award. The winners include Li Ting-huan (李婷歡), Wu Ping-chi (吳秉祈), Wen Chin-hao (溫晉豪), Hung Hsuan (洪瑄), and Juan Po-yuan (阮柏遠).
This year's shortlisted artists coincidentally demonstrate the high sensitivity and dynamism of the younger generation facing the real world. Their creations are not limited to experiments in form or media but delve into structural relationships between humans and nature, history and labor, image and power through meticulous narrative strategies and media choices.
As an open and forward-looking platform, the Kaohsiung Award continues to facilitate encounters between artists and audiences, stimulating multiple imaginations and creative energy for the future.
