2026 Matsu Village Design Lab (馬村設計實驗室) "Taste of Military Dependents' Village · Taste of Tea" (眷味・茶味) Exhibition
The 2026 Matsu Village Design Lab "Taste of Military Dependents' Village · Taste of Tea" is now open | Daily life in the military dependents' village starting from a cup of tea. In Matsu New Village, a pot of hot tea in the morning, neighborhood chats in the afternoon, and tea cups passed around the mahjong table have made "drinking tea" the most routine and heart-warming moment since the 1970s.
This exhibition approaches from "the act of drinking tea," walking into the life scenery of military families and the companionship and emotions hidden in the tea aroma.
The exhibition also connects with the Daxi Old Tea Factory in Taoyuan, an important site that witnessed the transition of Taiwan's tea industry from export to civilian life.
Through cultural translation and design experiments, the memories of the military dependents' village re-enter contemporary life—
being used, felt, and collected.
The exhibition space features interactive experiences, inviting you to use your senses and rhythm to walk into that era surrounded by the aroma of tea.
