Calligraphy Basics (書法基礎班)

* Holding and Moving the Brush: Students will understand the basic methods of holding and moving the brush and develop good sitting posture.
* Eight Principles of Yong (永字八法): Learn the basic strokes of calligraphy—the Eight Principles of Yong: side (dot), bridle (horizontal), effort (vertical), jump (hook), whip (upward), grazing (long down-stroke), pecking (short down-stroke), and dishing (right-falling stroke), as well as folding methods.
* Stroke Faults: Students will know and avoid common stroke faults.
* Introduction to Script Types: Students will learn the characteristics of Oracle Bone Script (甲骨文), Bronze Script (金文), Seal Script (篆書), Clerical Script (隸書), Cursive Script (草書), Regular Script (楷書), and Running Script (行書), and learn how to appreciate the beauty of calligraphy.
* Work Formats: Students will know various formats of calligraphy works to stimulate the desire for creation.
* Knowledge of Inscriptions: Students will learn common knowledge, positioning, terminology, fonts, and use of seals for inscriptions (落款).
