Coexisting with Rice Scent Permanent Exhibition — Taiwan Grain Castle (台灣穀堡): Rice Museum
Changhua County (彰化縣) is the double champion of rice cultivation area and yield, serving as Taiwan's (台灣) granary. Walking through the simple countryside, rice paddies are a healing sight. Chung Hsing Rice (中興米), self-proclaimed as the "model student of the rice world," established the "Taiwan Grain Castle" (台灣穀堡) Rice Museum in the countryside of Pitou (埤頭). Since its opening in 2010, it has become a highlight in the rice fields, a must-visit intellectual and emotional venue for experiencing Taiwan's rice culture.
In an era of culture and creativity, to allow visitors to more deeply experience how a single grain of rice can ripple into a beautiful lifestyle and cultural landscape, Taiwan Grain Castle (台灣穀堡) underwent a large-scale renovation, even "discarding its former skills and rebuilding." Reinterpreting the beauty of life brought by a single grain of rice from the most ordinary phrase "Eat Well," the brand-new Taiwan Grain Castle hopes to lead Taiwan's tourism factories into a new 2.0 era.
Walking into the lobby, you'll find "The World's Granary." Chung Hsing Rice (中興米), which has successfully marketed globally, has collected rice samples from all over the world to form a massive wall. Rice is the pride of Taiwan and a bridge of friendship with the world.
Climbing the stairs, you'll encounter the literary poetry of rice. The "Cheng" (埕, courtyard) for drying grain in traditional architecture is now a space for multimedia communication. Through artistic animation, you're invited to become a Knight of the Round Table—change starts from the dining table.
The scattered "house-within-a-house" exhibition spaces are like small settlements in the fields. You can wander through the cabins to view the exhibits, looking into rice from multiple dimensions, into life, and deep into the river of culture. Just as stars surround the moon, in the DIY classroom, we invite you to cook a pot of rice properly, breathe in the rice fragrance, and add color and scent to the white rice. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows are rows of giant rice storage tanks and a high-tech packaging plant, exuding a classic industrial style. Come here to satisfy your intellect first, then emotionally enjoy the food. Eating well allows you to experience a true "banquet."
