Raffia fiber is taken from the leaves of the Raphia genus in the palm family. It has characteristics such as being tough, strong, and smooth. During the peak period of Dajia (大甲) hat and mat production in the 1970s (Republic of China year 60s), there was a strong demand for hat-weaving materials, and Raffia was imported from Madagascar as a raw material. Furthermore, due to its water resistance, Raffia is very suitable for the hot and humid summer climate, so Raffia woven slippers are quite popular in the Taiwan market.
This set of works includes Raffia woven uppers and slippers, combining natural colors with small amounts of dyed colors, made using common openwork techniques found in hat and mat weaving.

※ Taichung City Fiber Arts Museum (臺中市纖維工藝博物館) is currently holding the "Sedge Mat · Good Weather: Taiwan-Japan Rush Culture Weaving Exhibition" (Gallery 1A). Exhibition Period: 2025.9.27-2026.3.1 (114.9.27-115.3.1). Visitors are welcome.
