"Dragon and Horse Ever-Present, Cherishing the Art of Sculpture – Wang Hsiu-chi & Lin Chao-ching Joint Exhibition" (「龍馬常在 享戀雕藝-王秀杞·林昭慶雙人聯展」)
This exhibition features 50 representative works by sculptors Wang Hsiu-chi (王秀杞) and Lin Chao-ching (林昭慶). The exhibition includes two major themes: "Horse Whispers and Sentiments" (馬語思情) and "Artistic Tea Stoves" (藝術茶爐). Starting from rural childhood experiences, it combines traditional utensils, rural culture, and contemporary sculptural language to bring a visual feast of intertwined art, life, and emotion to the audience.
Hualien (花蓮) possesses unique geographical landscapes—from high mountains to canyons, rivers to the ocean—which have nurtured rich natural resources and diverse cultures. Artists Wang Hsiu-chi and Lin Chao-ching have specifically chosen various creative materials to present works full of vitality. The exhibition emphasizes traditional culture and humanistic charm, reflecting the artists' love for the land and life of Taiwan. Through their keen and unique observation, they transform familiar festivals into ingenious works.
Master Wang Hsiu-chi (王秀杞), a graduate of the Department of Sculpture at the National Taiwan University of Arts, excels at depicting family affection and friendship. Warmth and supreme love are visible in the poses and expressions of his creations. His works reveal a sense of happiness through form and spirit, with lines and structures that evoke deep cultivation and improve the quality and state of life. The profound cultural heritage carried by Master Wang's diverse works is breathtaking. This exhibition marks the debut of his Year of the Horse series, including "Sturdy Soldiers and Fat Horses" (兵壯馬肥), "Success with the Arrival of the Horse" (馬到成功), "Horse Stepping on a Flying Swallow" (馬踏飛燕), and "Galloping Horse in the Central Plains" (躍馬中原). It also features classic blessing works like "Praying for Fortune" (祈福), "Family Joy" (闔家歡), and "Moving Forward" (向前行), totaling 35 pieces. It is hoped that visitors in early 2026 can immerse themselves in these artistic realms and create their own New Year hopes.
For many years, Master Lin Chao-ching (林昭慶) has devoted himself to Buddhism, calling himself "Chang-zai" (常在). He is exhibiting 15 works, including the "Happy Celebration Surplus Stove Set" (囍慶有餘爐組), where the pot body is as rounded as a fish, enjoying the freedom of water, and the stove body is as solid as earth, carrying things peacefully. It symbolizes no conflict and no shortage, only surplus and celebration. The "Happy Tea Stove" (開心茶爐) encourages a broad heart and warmth; in the misty fragrance of tea, one finds peace in a smile. The symbols in the works speak of prayers for peace, prosperity, and wealth, carrying the power of purification and transformation found in folk beliefs.
To allow the public to deeply experience artistic content and promote cultural participation, the exhibition invited ceramic artist Liu Chiu-hung (劉秋紅) for on-site teaching at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The "Little Masters meets Grand Masters - Pottery DIY Activity" has limited spots. Everyone is welcome to join and welcome 2026 with success.
