“Encounter 1930” Oboe and String Quartet
The “Encounter 1930” chamber music concert focuses on the rare dialogue between oboe and string quartet. Oboist Cheng Hui-feng (鄭慧豐) is specially invited to perform Crusell's “Divertimento” and Britten's “Phantasy Quartet.” Through the works of these two composers, the oboe and strings complement each other, showcasing a varied and unique charm.

The concert will also present Shostakovich's “String Quartet No. 1” and Poulenc's “Les Chemins de l'amour.” Both these works and Britten's “Phantasy Quartet” were created between the 1930s and 1940s, yet they present entirely different styles—the “Phantasy Quartet” depicts fresh images of the English countryside; “String Quartet No. 1” looks back at the composer's childhood memories, revealing a rare innocence and brightness; while “Les Chemins de l'amour” is based on a waltz rhythm, filled with French romance and a touch of melancholy.
