Encountering a Master at the Corner - Ni Chao-long (倪朝龍) Art Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-17 — 2026-04-26 Organizer: (中華民國)倪朝龍
Ni Chao-long (倪朝龍) has spent his life walking between art and education, like a gardener sowing seeds in the morning light. Born in Taichung City in 1940, he holds a Master’s degree in Art Education from Hyogo University of Teacher Education in Japan. During the changing times of post-war Taiwan, he embraced a pure and passionate love for color from a young age. On his path of study and creation, he was carefully guided by Huang Deng-tang (黃登堂), Chou Ying (周瑛), Li Chun-shan (李仲生), and others, allowing him to capture the pulse of the land and the warmth of human relationships with a keen eye and a soft heart, transforming life experiences into delicate and refined imagery.

As an artist, his creations are nourished by the land and his life experiences. From natural scenery to religious folk customs, from calm and profound oil paintings to emotionally intense prints, his works consistently exude simple emotion and vitality. His works have won the Provincial Art Exhibition Grand Prize, the Provincial Department of Education Award, the ROC International Print Exhibition Grand Prize (Taipei Fine Arts Museum Award), Tai-yang Art Exhibition Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, the Japanese IFA International Art Exhibition Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda Grand Prize, and four first-place awards each in the "Central Taiwan Art Exhibition" and "Kun-dao Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition," among others.

In the field of art education, Ni Chao-long is a deeply influential promoter. He has dedicated his life to art and education promotion, serving as a professor at National Taichung University of Education, principal of its affiliated experimental elementary school, the founding Secretary-General of Asia University, and a teacher at Du-xing and Yu-ren Elementary Schools. He also co-founded the "Chinese Association for Children's Art Education." Notably, at the age of 49, Ni gave up a high salary to study in Japan, putting art education into practice with real action. His persistence in lifelong learning became a life-long philosophy. After returning home, he continued to walk among students with his brush and encouragement, patiently inspiring and accompanying their exploration, using the most sincere way to make art a source of self-confidence and strength in children's lives.

Ni Chao-long has left deep footprints in Taiwan's art history. He is a creator, a recorder, and a promoter; from leading central Taiwan art as the chairman of the "Taiwan Central Art Association" for six terms to founding the "Taichung City Art Education Association," he was born for art and sowed seeds for society. In terms of creation, he planned and edited the "Collection of Taichung" series and wrote specific books for the "Complete Works of Taiwan Art," including those on Lin Chih-chu (林之助), Lu Fo-ting (呂佛庭), Wang Shui-he (王水he), Yang Chi-tung (楊啟東), Chang Ping-nan (張炳南), Chen Xia-yu (陳夏雨), Chen Yin-hui (陳銀輝), and others, leaving a deep mark on the land of Taichung. With a lifetime of warm practice, he proved that art can not only grow quietly in daily life but also illuminate the world, becoming a morning sun that accompanies generations.
