Encountering Pipa Soulmates 琵琶遇知音 / NYCU Arts Center 國立陽明交通大學藝文中心
The six works in this concert feature the Pipa as the core, unfolding a deep dialogue across instruments and vocal vocabularies, focusing on the delicate and rich exchange between contemporary composers and traditional instruments. Six composers from different generations and musical backgrounds present two distinct creative contexts—one drawing inspiration from Western compositional techniques to look back at traditional thinking, and the other starting from traditional performance experience to reinterpret traditional sounds with modern vocabulary.
Pipa performer Lin Hui-Kuan, with her profound performance experience and cross-border experimental spirit, skillfully connects the composers' sonic imagination with the infinite possibilities of the instrument, seeking soulmates for the Pipa. Through dialogue, co-creation, and actual performance with the composers, this concert explores life philosophy, past and future, life and death, and unearths the humanistic depth and artistic value of the Pipa in contemporary culture, allowing traditional sounds to bloom with more vibrant vitality in a modern context.
Let us feel the flow of Pipa sounds together on-site—as the notes cross time and space like the wind, gently stroking the heartstrings, awakening the deepest resonance in the heart of every listener.
