“Faith, Vow, Action” (信。願。行) Huang Kuo-shu (黃國書) Sculpture and Drawing Exhibition
Lukang (鹿港) is the hometown of Teacher Huang Kuo-shu (黃國書). The historical building "Heqi Villa" (鶴棲別墅) is rich in deep historical memory and cultural heritage. This exhibition is divided into 10 sculptural works and 8 pen drawings. In the sculpture section, Teacher Huang Kuo-shu (黃國書) uses refined sculptural language to present the joys and sorrows of the early villagers' daily lives, and also depicts the clear face of the practitioner after internal awakening. The world lets people see impermanence, while practice lets people learn to move forward peacefully in the flow of causes and conditions—taking suffering as a teacher, transforming circumstances, so that life is sublimated into wisdom through experience and condensed into Bodhi.
The pen drawings, created 30 years ago, are sketches recorded by the teacher on the way back from morning exercise, showing the street scenes and life in Lukang (鹿港). Many old house alleys no longer exist. If it weren't for the strokes made back then, these images would have been difficult to reproduce, making them especially precious.
All things in the world are impermanent, and impermanence is also the normal state of life. We hope that through this exhibition, viewers can feel the flow and tranquility of life between the works, see wisdom in impermanence, and gain ease in change.
