"Fire Fire Walk" - 2026 Chiu Chien-ming Solo Exhibition (《火火行》 2026邱建銘創作個展)
"Fire Fire Walk" (火火行) originates from the imagery of the Fire Year in the rotation of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. When time enters a year of double Fire elements, the so-called fire is not about intensity and explosion, but a kind of continuous internal transformation.
The "Walk" (行) of the Fire Year is a kind of spiritual practice, repeatedly tempering oneself in the cycle of time, continuing forward between burning and settling.
The works in this exhibition mainly take the form of heat-pressed printmaking (熱壓版畫).
Black and white serve as the visual vocabulary, stripping away the emotional tension of color, returning the viewing to the essential thinking of light, shadow, and structure. In the grayscale, there exists a state like embers, neither extinguished nor vigorously burning.
This state between appearance and concealment is exactly the spiritual portrayal of my recent reflections on my own creation and life stages.
"Fire Fire Walk" is not a simple retrospective, but a kind of "supplementary re-interpretation."
This method is similar to annotations on a manuscript; the original text remains, but new meanings are layered.
The meaning of fire lies in continuous forging and transformation; the state of continuous burning is also a gaze at the mundane world.
When the firelight flickers on the golden surface, let the past be supplemented and the images be reprinted, making the dust slowly and firmly generate new meaning within the firelight.
