Geological Science Hall Permanent Exhibition (地質科學廳常設展)

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: (中華民國)國立自然科學博物館車籠埔斷層保存園區
The Geological Science Hall is a permanent exhibition area that uses three display zones to present various themes of geological science education. The first zone focuses on the 921 Earthquake, introducing fault activity and research processes, and demonstrates the reasons for Taiwan's birth through interactive teaching aids. The second zone introduces plate tectonics theory and sandbox experiments. Taiwan was originally sediment on the ocean floor, but through plate movement, it was gradually uplifted into an island with many high mountains. Scholars simulate the mountain-building process with sandboxes to understand the relationship between plate movement and faults. This hall provides rich and diverse scientific education information, allowing people to appreciate the mysteries of geology from a macroscopic perspective and reflect on human positioning and actions.
Additionally, this area displays the park's mascot—the Formosan Pangolin. Pangolins are an endangered species worldwide. To promote conservation, this area introduces the ecology and habits of pangolins, displaying specimens and zoo ecological videos to help everyone better understand pangolins and the importance of conservation.
