Hsinchu City Railway Art Village (新竹市鐵道藝術村) "Everyone's Art Village"

Date: 2026-01-30 — 2026-03-29 Organizer: (中華民國)新竹市文化局
Everyone's Art Village Reopens here (Everyone’s Art Site Back on Track)

Hsinchu City Railway Art Village was temporarily closed in 2025 for roof repair works. During this period, most operations were supported by neighboring cultural partners, allowing artistic practice and exchange to continue flowing within the city. Even during its closure, the Railway Art Village was fortunate to receive attention and coverage from the editors of the Japanese magazine "D Design Travel," allowing the outside world to rediscover the local practices and cultural energy accumulated at this site over many years from a different perspective.

This report serves as profound encouragement for the team. The value it sees does not come from quantitative indicators such as foot traffic or operational results, but from the cultural depth accumulated over time and the continuous, sincere exchange between artists, residents, and visitors.

As the Railway Art Village reopens to the public, this exhibition reviews and presents the creations of past resident artists. These works are not only the results of individual artistic practices but also collectively constitute the ever-evolving relationship between the Art Village, the city, and life. The exhibition is not just about "displaying the past" but attempts to invite the audience at this moment of reopening to rethink the imagination and actions that the Art Village, as a public cultural space, can carry.

Therefore, in the exhibition hall, we would like to pose two questions to everyone who has walked into the Railway Art Village, as well as those who have yet to step inside—
What does it mean to you to have an art village in your life?
What would you hope to do in the art village?
