Hung Hsing-fu Literary Memorial Park - Public Art and Literary Corridor
Hung Hsing-fu Literary Memorial Park covers 1.7 hectares and features a public art area, a pond, slides, a skating rink, a basketball court, and several artistic installations.
The public art area contains four bronze statues, including depictions of Hung Hsing-fu as a youth, an ox, "Uncle Qingshui" plowing, and a boy catching crickets. All are inspired by the common people and rural life in Hung Hsing-fu's literary works, serving as the only "literary visualizations" in the park.
The bronze statues vividly express Hung Hsing-fu's characteristics as a "peasant novelist," which is quite rare. Walking among them while remembering the predecessors feels like being in the countryside 50 years ago, smelling the fragrance of the soil—truly a literary life.
In early 2025, to promote Hung Hsing-fu's literary spirit, Li Jin-yuan—a classmate of Hung Hsing-fu's brother Hung Ma-liang and a fellow Erlin native—initiated a donation drive. Ten community leaders including Tang Zheng-qin, Gu Heng-chang, Cai Hui-qing, Chen Jia-xiang, Li Xuan-ji, Lin Ming-e, Xie Rong-zhe, Yu Xin-ya, and Chen Zheng jointly sponsored the addition of a theme stone and a literary corridor to the park. During this period, writers Wu Sheng, Kang Yuan, and Hsieh Szu-hai were invited to assist in the planning. The theme stone is located at the park entrance, and explanation plaques are set on both sides of the literary corridor, featuring Hung Hsing-fu's works and commentaries by Wu Sheng, Kang Yuan, Hsieh Szu-hai, and Liao Yong-lai. Additionally, a theme marker and a sign for the poem "Longing" by Mr. Hung Ma-liang were added to Hung Hsing-fu's former residence.
