KATA (型): Oneness of Body and Mind - Taiwan-Japan (臺日) Collaborative Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-03-31 Organizer: (日本)大庭教授;(中華民國)國立成功大學博物館
"Understanding the world through the body" is our innate instinct. By perceiving the contours of the body, imitating, and practicing movements, we gradually develop postures that conform to our environment and culture, allowing us to integrate into society and redefine who we are. This exhibition introduces basic concepts from the book "Revisiting 'KATA' (Form): From Science to General Studies (「型」の再考:科学から総合学へ)" by Professor Ryosuke Ohba (大庭良介) of the University of Tsukuba (筑波大學), Japan, helping audiences understand how our views on the relationship between "body" and "mind" influence our learning and lifestyle, while attempting to propose everyday examples from a Taiwanese (臺灣) perspective as a response.

Continuing the 2024 online exhibition, the 2025 physical exhibition is again a collaboration with Professor Ohba. Through cooperation with university clubs (Martial Arts Club [國術社], Dance Research Club [舞蹈研究社]), it responds to Professor Ohba's theories and Japanese cases, building a bridge for dialogue on "body feel" in Taiwanese and Japanese cultures, encouraging audiences to re-emphasize the integrity of the unity of body and mind, and extending thinking on how the "KATA" method can be applied to innovation and how it affects our interpersonal relationships and worldview.
