Li Ming-huang (李銘煌) "Year of the Horse Calligraphy Exhibition"
01/15-03/31 | Kinmen Airport (金門機場) Art Gallery

Calligrapher Li Ming-huang's (李銘煌) "Year of the Horse Calligraphy Exhibition" is now on display at the Kinmen Airport (金門機場) Art Gallery from January 15 to March 31, 2026. This exhibition focuses on folk songs from various parts of Taiwan as the core of writing, transforming vocal memories and regional culture through ink and brush forms, presenting the diverse possibilities of calligraphy as a contemporary cultural carrier.

Li Ming-huang (李銘煌) has been involved in calligraphy creation and teaching for many years, with a deep foundation in calligraphy, excelling in Seal, Clerical, Running, and Cursive scripts, and is committed to combining calligraphy with local culture and humanistic memory. The original curatorial concept of this exhibition was centered on Hengchun (恆春) folk songs, extending to the Praise Songs (褒歌) of Erkan (二崁) in Xiyu (西嶼), Penghu (澎湖), and incorporating Praise Song (褒歌) texts from Wanli (萬里), Jinshan (金山), and Yilan (宜蘭) in northeastern Taiwan collected and written in recent years. Through the form of calligraphy, it preserves and reproduces the life wisdom and emotional context carried by folk songs.

Due to venue renovation, the exhibition period was adjusted. As it coincides with the eve of the Lunar New Year, the curatorial team specially added a series of combined character works with festive meanings, adding New Year blessings and cultural symbols to the original theme of folk song writing, presenting the flexible transition of calligraphy between tradition and modernity.
The exhibition venue is located in the Kinmen Airport (金門機場) Art Gallery, hoping to bring art into public spaces, allowing travelers to experience the beauty of calligraphy up close during their journey and reflect on the cultural connection between text, sound, and the land. At the same time, it is also expected that through this exhibition, more attention and action will be triggered for the collection and organization of Kinmen's (金門) local Praise Song (褒歌) culture.

We sincerely invite the public to stop and appreciate this exhibition when passing through Kinmen Airport (金門航空站), and to experience the cultural depth and temporal warmth contained in Taiwanese folk songs through the flow of ink and brush.
