Looking Towards Home — Lin Guo-zhi 10th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition (「望。鄉—林國治逝世十週年紀念展」)

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-05-17 Organizer: (中華民國)林國治美術館
Lin Guo-zhi (林國治, 1933-2015), born in Dingtan, Lucao, Chiayi (嘉義鹿草頂潭), was one of the representative figures of Taiwan's second generation of artists. He dedicated his life to artistic creation, art education, and the promotion of artistic activities. Despite living a simple creative life, he refined a unique and rustic painting style, famous for painting Alishan (阿里山), earning him the reputation of the "Alishan Painter."
Rustic, upright, and passionate, Lin Guo-zhi recorded the local customs and people of his hometown through sketching. He used a unique painterly vocabulary to construct the artistic characteristics and connotations belonging to his hometown, showing his concern for the natural and cultural landscapes. He channeled the emotions of life into his brush, painting the beauty of his hometown. Every painting is his sincere affection for his home—a painting is a spiritual world, a dialogue between Lin Guo-zhi and the earth.
2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Lin Guo-zhi's passing. This museum has specially planned the "Looking Towards Home — Lin Guo-zhi 10th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition," curated by Chung Yu-chien (鍾寓建). The exhibition is themed "Looking Towards Home" and divided into four sub-themes: "Gleanings," "Thinking of Home," "Flower Appearance," and "The Traveler," leading viewers into Lin Guo-zhi's world of artistic creation and to experience the hidden artistic elegance.
