Artist Introduction

Original Baroque Ensemble

Founded in 2008, it is Taiwan's first professional Baroque ensemble composed of local early music performers. They insist on playing period instruments to recreate the original authentic flavor and splendor of Baroque music!

With a passion for Baroque humanities, art, and music, the ensemble aims to promote Baroque culture and music in Taiwan. They design various activities for different audiences, hoping to break the stereotype that Baroque music is only for adults or specific art lovers. The Original Baroque Ensemble excels at combining drama to make the content more accessible; they have accumulated hundreds of performances in their comprehensive promotion of Baroque music.

Recorder | Weng Yueh-hung

Holds a Konzertexamen in Recorder and a Master of Music from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Since returning to Taiwan, she has been involved in education and various recorder ensemble and chamber music performances. She has been a member of the Original Baroque Ensemble since 2011 and currently teaches recorder at the Department of Music, Tainan University of Technology.

Recorder | Chuang Fu-jung

Graduated with a major in Recorder from Tainan University of Technology in 2008, and obtained a Master’s degree in Piano Performance in 2010 before studying in Germany. During her 13 years in Germany, she obtained a Master’s in Recorder Performance from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and a Master’s in Harpsichord Performance from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.

Baroque Flute | Chien Chih-hsien

Graduated from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, studying under Prof. Karl Kaiser. Obtained the Baroque Flute Performer’s Diploma and Konzertexamen. Since 2014, he has served as the Music Director of the Original Baroque Ensemble, dedicated to the interpretation and promotion of Baroque music in Taiwan.

Baroque Violin | Alexander Pivtsaev

Ukrainian-Russian. Studied at the Stolyarsky Music School, Moscow Central Music School, Moscow Conservatory, and the University of Tromsø. Graduated from the Institute for Early Music at the Trossingen University of Music, majoring in Baroque Orchestra/Baroque Violin. Since 2015, he has been the foreign resident Baroque violinist for the Original Baroque Ensemble. He moved to New Zealand in 2021 and is currently a member of the New Zealand Barok.

Harpsichord | Lee Yi-ying

Master of Arts in Harpsichord Performance from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Specializes in Baroque chamber music and figured bass performance, collaborating with numerous local and international early music artists. A founding member of the Original Baroque Ensemble since 2009, she is currently dedicated to Christian music education.
