While old woman Lin Jiang-mai (林江邁) was trading smuggled cigarettes with Sea Dragon King (海龍王) outside the tea house, she was knocked unconscious by a Monopoly Bureau investigator with a rifle butt. The onlookers were outraged and a conflict erupted. In the tea house opened by man of letters Chan Tien-ma (詹天馬), the theater troupe was about to perform the final "March of Happiness" (幸福進行曲). The young man A-jin (阿進) also fell after being shot in the chaos. The girl Nuan-yu (暖玉), refusing to believe A-jin had passed away, still waits affectionately at the harbor... and this day happened to be February 28, 1947.
