March Kaohsiung Film Archive | 哈姆奈特 Hamnet [PG-12]
Directed by "Nomadland" director Chloé Zhao, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal in a heartbreaking portrayal of the pain of losing a child.
Behind Shakespeare's classic "Hamlet" lies a little-known story of Hamnet, Shakespeare's son. As his theater career in London began to flourish, Shakespeare and his soulmate and wife, Agnes, lived in different places. Then came the tragic news: their son Hamnet had died of the plague. Agnes, staying behind to tend the home, had to shoulder all the burdens. Both faced the pain of losing a child separately, and their once unbreakable bond was put to a great test.
