In 1990 Iraq, war and sanctions made resources so scarce that even sugar became a luxury. At this time, President Saddam Hussein ordered the whole country to celebrate his birthday, and every class had to offer a cake. Nine-year-old Lamia was chosen for this task. To prevent her entire class from suffering, she took her beloved rooster and followed her grandmother on a journey to the town, thinking it was just to collect ingredients, but she didn't expect a more complex and unknown adventure awaited her.
