Miaobei Gallery Series 2: "The Woodworker's Dream, Joyfully Seen in Miaoli — HDG (懷德居) Woodworking Creation Exhibition"

Date: 2026-03-11 — 2026-05-31 Organizer: (中華民國)懷德居木工實驗學校
Miaobei Art and Culture Center (苗北藝文中心) invites the HDG Woodworking School (懷德居木工實驗學校), which has long been deeply involved in woodworking education and promotion, to present its selected woodworking creation achievements. Since 2004, HDG (懷德居) has continuously revitalized traditional woodworking crafts through research, education, and practice, enabling the craft spirit of small-scale production to respond to contemporary life. In 2023, it was honored with the "Taiwan Craft Award - Collaboration Award" by the Ministry of Culture.
This exhibition features selected works from the "Jupiter Project," "One-day Woodworking Camp," and thematic courses held by the HDG Woodworking School over the years. It showcases diverse woodworking creations such as bicycles and violins, presenting the rich forms of woodworking between daily utility and contemporary aesthetics. Related publications are also exhibited simultaneously, inviting the audience to appreciate the warmth and depth carried by woodworking from the levels of skill and space to life itself.
Since 2004, "HDG" (懷德居) has revitalized the value of traditional crafts through research, education, and promotion. In a capitalist environment, it has made small-scale production crafts an active role that integrates into and enlivens life, existence, and a virtuous economic cycle. Therefore, it received the "Taiwan Craft Award - Collaboration Award" from the Ministry of Culture in 2023.
For over twenty years, with the support of founder Professor Lin Dong-yang (林東陽), HDG has successively established the HDG Furniture Knowledge Hall (established in 2004), the HDG Woodworking School (established in 2006), and the HDG Culture Foundation (established in 2008). In addition to inheriting woodworking culture and promoting furniture art, it actively cultivates domestic woodworking talent. In recent years, it has engaged in close exchanges with the woodworking communities in Denmark and Japan, expanding the international horizons of its students and allowing the world to see the exquisite craftsmanship of Taiwan.
