Neiwei Arts Center's first special exhibition "Mr.'s Whimsical Love"
Mr. Strangelove or: How He Learned to Stop Conventional Art Style and Love to Draw the Girls
Japanese Superflat and Neo-Pop representative artist Mr. holds his first solo exhibition in Kaohsiung! With the brushstrokes of innocent Moe boys and girls, crossing the dimensional wall, inviting you to immerse yourself in the ultimate world of cuteness and imagination
Since the mid-1990s, artist Mr. has opened a new chapter for Japanese contemporary art with works combining Otaku culture imagery. Growing up in the 1980s when animation, manga, and subculture flourished, Mr. integrates personal life experiences and Japanese social atmosphere into his creations, gradually forming a distinct personal style under the mentorship of Takashi Murakami.
This exhibition specially invites Kenji Kudo, Director of the Tagawa City Museum of Art, to curate, presenting about 70 sets of works by artist Mr., including large-scale flat paintings, three-dimensional sculptures, and early receipt graffiti, inviting the audience to walk into the contemporary reality and imagination reflected by Mr. through "cuteness."
