Muma Slow Progress (木馬緩行集) - Year of the Horse Zodiac Woodcarving Exhibition (馬年生肖木雕展)
"Muma Slow Progress (木馬緩行集) - Year of the Horse Zodiac Woodcarving Exhibition," initiated and curated by Professor Yang Bei-chen (楊北辰) of the Sculpture Department at National Taiwan University of Arts. The joint exhibition features renowned domestic woodcarving artists such as Han Xu-dong (韓旭東), Yang Bei-chen (楊北辰), Lai Yong-xing (賴永興), and Luo You-rui (羅又睿), along with Sanyi woodcarving masters Chen De-long (陳德隆), Zhang Xin-yu (張信裕), Huang Shi-yuan (黃石元), and Huang Rui-yuan (黃瑞元). It also includes Japanese artist Noriko Shibata (芝田典子) and Macau artist Keong Wan Wai (姜運威). Additionally, it showcases emerging Taiwanese woodcarving artists like Jiang Meng-xi (江孟禧), Yang Yun-zhen (楊運臻), Chen Ting-yao (陳廷曜), and Pan Wei-zhong (潘煒中), as well as outstanding young artists graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts and Da-Yeh University.
An annual zodiac exhibition that brings together three generations of woodcarving artists—senior, emerging, and young—to create miniature woodcarvings themed after the zodiac animal of the year. Each artist uses a different creative perspective to echo the beautiful traditions of "New Year greetings and prayers" and "discarding the old to welcome the new" in Taiwan's traditional lunar atmosphere, allowing visitors who come to the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum (三義木雕博物館) for Spring Festival outings to welcome a wonderful year through art appreciation.
