The beginning of weaving does not start indoors, but in the mountains and forests. For the Paiwan people, bamboo weaving is not just an accessible and practical life skill for daily use; the ability to weave bamboo even becomes a basis for whether an individual is recognized by the tribe.
This special exhibition hopes to present the traditional bamboo weaving skills and precious craft life journey accumulated by elder Chen Zhen-nan throughout his life, and through his bamboo weaving works, convey the Paiwan people's understanding of nature, ecological ethics, and deep cultural memory.
