Opening the Paint Box - Fine Arts in Kaohsiung: "Children's Secret Base" Sun Si-ping (孫泗萍) Oil Painting Solo Exhibition

Date: 2026-02-25 — 2026-03-08 Organizer: (中華民國)孫泗萍
Sun Si-ping (孫泗萍) had been dedicated to oil painting for over a decade before entering the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at National Kaohsiung Normal University. Over the years, she has continuously participated in various domestic and international art competitions, repeatedly winning awards. Her painting style is quiet yet full of vitality. In her early years, she focused on peonies and herbaceous peonies, showcasing the elegance, resilience, and blooming beauty of flowers through layered colors and delicate brushstrokes. In recent years, with the accumulation of creative experience and changes in her life journey, she has gradually shifted her focus to more emotionally warm human subjects.
This transformation originated from her family life. During a visit to her newborn granddaughter, Sun saw rows of baby photos on the wall at the postpartum care center, and a strong creative inspiration surged in her heart. Subsequently, her grandson and second granddaughter were born, and the love and joy they brought became an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The children's images under her brush are not just cute appearances but also contain innocent imaginations and beautiful aspirations for the world. Through delicate observation of expressions of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, she attempts to capture the emotional flow within children, allowing viewers to feel the most sincere light of humanity.
In her creations, Sun Si-ping also pays special attention to the interaction between children and pets. She believes that this companionship has a profound impact on children's emotional development, and that people's understanding of children's emotions and relationships varies across different cultural backgrounds. From the perspective of child psychology, she explores the importance of emotional expression and facial expression management. Through her works, she hopes to evoke the audience's feelings of childhood innocence and convey love and care through art, allowing more people to feel this warm power.
As a contemporary Taiwanese artist focused on oil paintings of children's imagery, Sun Si-ping uses a free color language that transcends boundaries of race and culture to depict common human emotions—joy, sadness, fear, love, and loss. Her series "Children's Secret Base" uses vibrant oils, imaginative compositions, and strokes of surreal realism to create a dream kingdom of childhood. The peony flowers, symbolizing wealth and vitality, serve as a spiritual symbol throughout the works. Each painting is like a memory of a childhood adventure, demonstrating infinite imagination and heart-warming power.
