Permanent Exhibition of Nanke Archaeological Artifacts - Installation Art "Sugar Hut and Shack-style Imagery Pavilion" (南科考古文物常設展-裝置藝術「糖廍與棚屋造型意象涼亭」)

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: (中華民國)國立臺灣史前文化博物館
Before the establishment of Nanke Park, the sugar industry landscape spanned centuries, and sugarcane fields were the most important product here.

Therefore, sugarcane is restored in the outdoor landscape, and stone rollers from the Qing Dynasty used for pressing sugarcane juice are placed for visitors to experience.

"Sugar Hut" (糖廍) refers to early sugar factories where cattle provided the power to pull stone rollers to press sugarcane and boil the juice.

The remains of four connected stoves excavated at the Daoye South Site in Nanke Park were a first discovery in Taiwan's historical archaeology. Other unearthed artifacts like sugar funnels, funnel jars, flints, stone rollers (sugarcane rollers), and wooden components for pressing plates are also important artifacts of traditional Taiwanese sugar-making technology.
