Playing in Squares, Rejoicing in Circles — Chen Chin-wang Rhino Prosperity Solo Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-30 — 2026-03-29 Organizer: (中華民國)陳金旺
"Playing in Squares, Rejoicing in Circles — Rhino Prosperity Solo Exhibition" uses the rhinoceros as a symbol, blending geometric shapes with New Year allegories. It invites the public to step into the art museum during the New Year to bring back full luck and joy.

To play in the world, one must maintain the square (principles) to achieve circular (complete) joy. Play is the creativity to explore the world; the square represents stance and rules; the circle is the joy of life. Chen Chin-wang uses the rhinoceros as a form of power, deriving the exhibition theme "Where the Rhino Stands, Prosperity Arises": only by standing firm within order can life flourish and joyful events reach completion.

This exhibition focuses on his representative series "Rhino Prosperity." The works are hand-squeezed into shape, combining intaglio patterns, geometric cutting, and bronze visual vocabulary to present a vigorous, steady, and modern formal language. The rhinoceros bodies stretch between "square" and "circle," presenting fortitude, guardianship, and exuberant vitality; it is both the power of the land and a blessing for the coming year.

Chen Chin-wang describes himself as "not seeking to be first, only seeking to be unique." From boxer to journalist to ceramic artist, the three major turns in his life have been colored by sincerity and persistence. He uses Dadu Mountain red clay as his core material, continuously refining the vitality of Taiwan's local ceramic art to create his own symbols and narrative.

During the Lunar New Year, walk into the Fangyuan Museum of Art. Visitors will encounter ceramics and joy at the intersection of art and life, receiving the blessings brought by "Rhino Prosperity": guard a square heart, and complete a circular matter; joy this year, more prosperity this year.
