Music
Roots. Bloom (根。綻放)
America's most watched new-generation chamber music group Trio Magnoliana visits Taiwan for the first time! Founded in Houston, Texas in 2023, it consists of violinist Mann-Wen Lo, cellist Eunghee Cho, and pianist Andrew Staupe. All three members are active soloists and teach at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston. This concert, themed "Roots and Bloom," connects classical and contemporary sound journeys. From Beethoven's "Piano Trio in G Major" showing the timeless model of chamber music, to the lyrical works of Armenian composer Gayane Chebotaryan, and then to the world premiere of "Magnolia," a brand-new commissioned work by Korean-American composer Nicky Sohn specially created for Trio Magnoliana, symbolizing rebirth and cultural connection, responding to "deeply planted roots and blooming flowers" with music. The program ends with Ravel's "Piano Trio in A Minor," interweaving color and poetry, reflecting the resilience and elegance of magnolias. This performance symbolizes the continuation of culture and emotion, from Houston to Taipei, letting music bloom again between the land and the soul.
