Seeing Their "Original" Voices — Story of Juwu (揪屋) Intro
Juwu is a Paiwan (排灣族) woman from the Bayao Tribe (八瑤部落) in Manzhou Township (滿州鄉), Pingtung County (屏東縣). Due to the lack of job opportunities in her hometown at that time, her family gradually moved to urban areas. Juwu's upbringing integrated Han and Indigenous bloodlines, giving her background a unique quality. Although Juwu has no images of tribal life in her memory, her contact with Indigenous culture did not disappear. Every time she returns to the tribe for ancestral worship, she still connects with and learns about Indigenous culture while feeling the unique atmosphere of Indigenous culture.
