"Sophie's Extraordinary World 《蘇菲的異賞世界》" Art Exhibition

"Sophie's Extraordinary World" presents the creative practice of artist Sophie Liang 梁秀芬, situated between magical fables and sensory experience. "Extraordinary World" (異賞) serves as a metaphor for viewing the world, referring to emotional states that are not easily digested by daily experience—such as sweetness and bitterness, magnificence and shadows, temptation and unease—which coexist and intertwine in the works.
The exhibition centers on narrative hand-drawn illustrations, combined with the unique touch, layering, and temporality of fiber art, to construct an imaginary field that can be read, gazed upon, and perceived. The illustration characters wander on the edge of fairy tales and reality, while fiber media, through weaving, stitching, and layering, transform emotions into embodied visual language, extending the narrative to the space and the material itself.
Sophie Liang 梁秀芬 is a creator of the dark and magnificent style, with a distinct creative flair centered on magic, fables, and symbolic imagery. She possesses a cross-cultural artistic background, holding a Ph.D. in Design (Painting Research) from Tatung University 大同大學 in Taiwan, a Master's degree in Illustration from Kingston University London in the UK, and a Bachelor's degree from the Department of Textiles and Clothing at Fu Jen Catholic University 輔仁大學. Her works have been exhibited in London, Venice, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Macau, and Taiwan. She is currently a full-time artist, continuing to deepen her creation and research.
