Taichung City (臺中市) Wufeng District (霧峰區) 115th Year Lantern Painting Competition Exhibition

Decorating with lanterns and streamers is a unique custom in Chinese culture. Lanterns symbolize light and brightness. In ancient times, when private schools began their academic year in the first lunar month, parents would prepare a lantern for their children, which the teacher would light to symbolize a bright future; this was known as 'lighting the lantern.'
Today, this has evolved into the traditional custom of carrying lanterns during the Lantern Festival. To help students better understand cultural heritage, and in coordination with festive events and the promotion of cultural venues in the district, this activity uses an educational and entertaining approach to let students experience the joy of participation.
