Tainan City (臺南市) 2025 (Academic Year 114) Language Flower Arts "Magic Language Flower One-Page Book" (魔法語花一頁書) Competition Outstanding Works Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-25 — 2026-03-08 Organizer: (中華民國)48位學生得獎作品
In addition to presenting 48 pieces by young painters interpreting their mother tongues from a sincere perspective, this exhibition also features an audio-visual area. It showcases the 3D mother tongue picture book "Wishing to the Moon" (向月亮許願), developed by the National Tainan Living Art Center (國立臺南生活美學館). Students from Yushan Elementary School (玉山國小) in Nanhua District and Kaiyuan Elementary School (開元國小) in Tainan City recite poems from the book in Taiwanese. The innocent voices, paired with the exquisite pop-up pages, allow the public to enjoy the beauty of the Taiwanese language's rhythm.

The National Tainan Living Art Center (國立臺南生活美學館) stated that the exhibition "Our Paintings, Our Words" (咱畫咱的話), planned in collaboration with the Tainan City Government Education Bureau, brings together winning works from the 2023 (Academic Year 112) "Magic Language Flower One-Page Book" competition. It displays students' use of brushes combined with mother tongues to depict the local environment and proverbs. Curated by Assistant Professor Hsu Yuan-ta (許遠達) of the Department of Art History at Tainan National University of the Arts (國立臺南藝術大學), the exhibition vividly presents students' playful and childlike works through clever layout.

Principal Zheng Yu-sheng (鄭宇盛) of Yushan Elementary School in Nanhua District expressed great gratitude to the National Tainan Living Art Center (國立臺南生活美學館) for providing a stage for Tainan's students. Having their work displayed in a professional venue is a form of recognition and honor for the young artists. Through the careful planning of Professor Hsu and the National Tainan Living Art Center team, the professional curation provides a visual experience different from the past. He believes the young painters of "Magic Language Flower One-Page Book" will have a wonderful exhibition experience.

In response to 2024 International Mother Language Day, the exhibition showcases 48 award-winning works and the "Wishing to the Moon" mother tongue pop-up book to encourage children to engage with their mother tongues from a young age. The winning works cover a diverse range of languages, including Taiwanese, Hakka, Indigenous languages, and New Resident languages. The public is invited to wander through the fantasy world under the young painters' brushstrokes and feel the vitality of children's creative expressions of their mother tongues. "Our Paintings, Our Words" (咱畫咱的話) is currently on display at the Young Show Space of the National Tainan Living Art Center. Everyone is welcome to visit.
