"The Beauty of Tearing Art ~ Breathtaking Paper (嘆為觀紙)" Washi Tearing Art Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-05 — 2026-03-31 Organizer: (中華民國)中華民國容裕撕畫藝術推廣協會
Washi tearing art (棉紙撕畫), also known as "paper color painting (紙彩畫)," uses materials such as artistic cotton paper, rakusui paper (落水紙), and Tengu paper (點具紙). After dyeing to present rich colors, it is created through techniques like tearing, pulling, twisting, scraping, burning, rubbing, and cutting. Its characteristic is spontaneity and naturalness, capable of presenting the elegance of Chinese ink painting (國畫), the wash of watercolors, or the thickness of oil paintings. The themes of the works in this exhibition are diverse, covering landscapes, flowers, plants, fruits, running water, ridges, animals, birds, ponds, and figures. Through the exhibition, the beauty of Washi tearing art is shared with the public, demonstrating its accessibility and soul-nurturing nature.

The Bureau of Finance and Taxation (財稅局) invites citizens to visit the Art Corridor (藝文走廊) (2nd Floor, No. 96, Section 1, Zhongyi Road (忠義路), West Central District (中西區)), to personally experience the unique charm of Washi tearing art. The exhibition is open from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM on workdays. You are welcome to visit.
