Volunteer Storytelling Activities (志工說故事活動) (March 2026 - 13 Sessions)
The March volunteer storytelling activities are themed "Spring Thunder Awakens the Story, Sprouting Feelings Open to Books" (春雷乍動故事醒,萌芽心事向書開), combining the breath of spring with the vitality of nature. A selection of spring-themed storybooks has been curated, including "Lantern Festival with Lanterns" (提燈籠闖元宵), "Lantern Festival in the Forest" (森林的元宵節), "The Little Secrets of Animals" (動物們的小秘密), and "Hair Grew on the Snake's Head" (蛇的頭上長毛了), totaling 13 sessions. Through imaginative stories, children are led to understand seasonal changes, feel rebirth and hope, and explore the wonders and surprises of nature. Infants aged 0 to 5, kindergarteners, and lower to middle grade elementary school students are welcome to attend with their parents.
To welcome elementary students back to school, a Hakka (客語) story session "Hair Grew on the Snake's Head" (蛇的頭上長毛了) is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Volunteers will tell the story in lively and interesting Hakka: When spring arrives, a snake finds hair growing on its head, feeling both confused and curious, and sets off on a journey to find answers. On the journey, it meets various animals, communicates and shares with them, and finally understands that spring symbolizes the recovery of all things and the changes of life. The story is full of childlike fun and incorporates natural observation and life philosophy, guiding children to learn to accept change and cherish the beauty of the four seasons through laughter.
Reading is important nourishment for children's growth. Stories not only enhance the emotional connection between parents and children but also inspire children's creativity and emotional expression. The county government will continue to support various reading promotion activities to create a rich and diverse learning environment for children, making reading a part of family life and accompanying children to explore the world and grow happily in stories.
We sincerely invite parents and children to participate in this spring-themed reading feast, letting stories bloom in the spring light.
