Jin Chae-seon (陳彩仙), who lost her parents at a young age, dreams of learning "Pansori" (盤索里), a traditional musical storytelling art. She wants to become a disciple of Shin Jae-hyo (申在孝), the head of the academy, but women are forbidden from learning Pansori. When Shin Jae-hyo learns that Heungseon Daewongun (興宣大院君) will hold a national competition, he decides to accept Chae-seon because she is the only one who can perfectly sing "The Song of Chunhyang" (春香歌). However, if her identity as a woman is exposed, everyone will face the death penalty. Nevertheless, Shin Jae-hyo decides to pass on everything he knows to Chae-seon.
